Luna Blu (Italian for Blue Moon) is the creation of Catherine Johnson of Rogers, MN. Cathy, a 4th generation American small businesswomen, opened the Luna Blu Coffee Co. in August of 2005. Her husband Craig helps out in the mornings. Their kids come and go from school to karate and try to help out around the shop. Cathy’s Great Grandparents came to Minnesota from Italy and Sweden. Her Great-Grandmother, Catarina, owned and operated a thriving bakery in West Duluth. Her Great-Grandfather, Alfonse, was a Swedish Butcher. Their children, Lena and Ralph, met, fell in love, married and opened a corner grocery/butcher shop of their own in the same West Duluth neighborhood. 
Great-Grandmother Catarina, was always a strong and guiding force in her children and grandchildren’s lives. She helped her grandson Dale, Cathy’s father, start up a small tile shop in a storefront building she owned. Dale and his wife, Marian worked very hard and built a growing family business. Now Cathy’s brother, sister and brother-in-law own and operate Johnson’s Carpet One. That family business is now working on their 2nd half century of success.
The Luna Blu has an eclectic feel. Part Manhattan Italian Coffee House, part Continental Bistro. The high quality tile work and warm, comfortable color scheme invite you to come in and relax by the cozy corner fireplace. Luna Blu is also proud to feature artworks from local and regional artisans. Come by and see our changing art wall showcase, or browse through a small array of kiln-fired pottery and hand-made stained-glass gift pieces. We keep Luna Blu moving with your favorite XM Satellite Radio channels and Direct TV Satellite programming—requests are always encouraged.
The Luna Blu is committed to the local community like no other business. We live in Rogers, our children attend the local schools, and we support all local community activities. Our strongest commitment is the TIP CUP Program. All tips go to local worthy causes; schools, academic, athletic, church, community groups and programs have all benefited from this program. Local groups receive 100% of the tips that our customers give. Beneficiaries so far include: Girl Scouts (Pack # 2584) RHS Girls Volleyball, Basketball, Soccer, Gymnastics, Dance line, RMS Book Fair and Honor Society, Hassan Elementary PTO, Kaleidoscope Playground Fund, Mary Queen of Peace Library Fund, MQOP Annual Gala, Rogers Police Foundation, Rogers Women of Today, Red Cross and many more.
